Welcome to the 2021-2022 Concert Season

This year we celebrate our 17th season bringing a wide range of classical choral literature to Amelia Island, Florida.

The Island Chamber Singers begin their 17th Season of bringing classical choral literature to Amelia Island on December 11 and 12, 2021.  Our Season opening concert, A Christmas Kaleidoscope, will be “Our Gift to the Community” and is “admission free to the public.”  We hope you, your friends, and family will come and enjoy this special gift from us to you.  The chorus of thirty-seven members will be accompanied by an orchestral ensemble.  May it bring you joy and put you in the holiday mood.  We are so happy to be singing again; we are back, Hallelujah!

We are excited about the repertoire chosen for this 17th Season as we begin A Christmas Kaleidoscope.  The program, like a kaleidoscope, is many-faceted in style, era, and composition.  The chorus will sing a variety of favorites from John Rutter’s Christmas collection, including “Shepherd’s Pipe Carol” and “Somerset Wassail.”  In a totally different vein is “In Dulci Jubilo” a 14th century carol that features a mixture of Latin and English lyrics.  We will then move to Argentina with a delightful tango-like selection by Astor Piazzolla, “The Road to Bethlehem”. “O Magnum Mysterium” is the lovely text that speaks to the wonder of animals being present at the birth of Jesus. It was composed by Tomas Luis de Victoria in the 16th century and is one of the finest examples of late Renaissance choral music. We will sing our favorite, “I Wish You Christmas” as our concluding selection which has become a favorite of our audiences for several years.  We truly will ring in the Christmas spirit with this concert on Saturday, December 11th and Sunday, December 12th in 2021.
